Are you a younger - or newer - member of AWWA?
Would you like to get more involved in and meet more members of AWWA? Do you want to find out more about opportunities within AWWA for mentoring and professional development? If you answered "YES" to any of these questions, then the Ohio Section Young Professionals Committee has something for you!
Who we are: a diverse group composed of both younger and more experienced water professionals committed to increasing the involvement of student and younger AWWA members. Some of the programs and activities that we sponsor include: Student Paper Competition: open to all undergraduate and graduate students. For more information, download the 2004 Student Paper Competition Application and Information Reduced fee student memberships: students can join both AWWA and the Water Environment Federation (WEF) for only $30 (compared to the regular rate of $54) if they take advantage of the attached membership application. Check out the membership application and benefits of membership information. District YP Events: these fun events provide opportunities for you to meet other AWWA members in your district. Some of our past events have included water and wastewater plant tours, brewery tours, bowling night, a tour of the water systems at the Cincinnati zoo - just to name a few! The YP committee will sponsor a speaker from the water industry to talk to your student group about their work and opportunities in the water and wastewater field, or for a tour of a local water plant. Please contact your district rep for more information about this. Other activities include: Fund raising for groups like Water for People, and the Ohio Pipe Tapping and Top Ops Teams. Mentoring opportunities through our Skills Development Program, to help you develop your leadership and communication skills.
If you would like more information about any of these programs or would like to get your name on our mailing list, please contact your district representative. We hope to see you at an upcoming YP event, district meeting or state conference soon! Look for us - we'll be there! Are you looking for a job?
