Julie Gillenwater leaves DDAGW

After 9 years of dedicated service, Julie Gillenwater will be leaving her position as Supervisor of the Certification Unit in the Division of Drinking and Ground Water to accept a position in the Division of Emergency and Remedial Response effective July 29. Julie started her career as a laboratory analyst/operator for the City of Ironton, accepted a position in Drinking Water in the Southwest District EPA in 1993, moved to the Columbus Drinking water operations group in 1995, and was promoted to her current position in 1999.

Julie worked hard to educate licensed Ohio water and wastewater operators on the requirements of the Operator Certification Rule for contact hours. Julie was a frequent speaker at virtually all AWWA/OWEA district meetings and OTCO workshops. Through her efforts the operators should now be aware of the requirements, and over 2,500 courses have been approved.

Julie has served a chair of the Ohio Section Small Systems Committee and serves a judge for the Section Top-Ops competition. Good luck Julie in your new position.
