CITY OF MARYSVILLE

WATER SUPERINTENDENT

 

City of Marysville, Ohio; voted “Best Hometown 2006” by Ohio Magazine, Union County seat (4th fastest growing county in Ohio), is seeking a dedicated professional/leader to fill the expanding role of Water Superintendent. Candidates must have an Ohio EPA Class III Water Plant/Supply Certification with the ability to obtain a Class IV within 3 years of employment start date (Class IV in hand a major plus). We are currently constructing a water reservoir and planning a new water plant within 3-4 years. The primary focus of this position is to provide leadership, direction and motivation to the Water Division. The successful candidate plans, organizes, inspects, and supervises the installation, operations, maintenance and repair of water distribution systems at the City as well as insuring water quality operations and monitoring at the water treatment plant. Also included in these efforts are mandated water quality monitoring and reporting and the day-to-day customer service activities; dealing with the day-to-day customer service activities; working closely with the utility departments; and planning the work schedule for the utility service workers. Other requirements include; a high school graduate (or GED), valid Ohio drivers license with good driving record, 6 years progressively responsible experience in an applicable public works operations and maintenance function, including a minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience. Experience in project management, design assistance, and construction supervision of water plants, wells, and raw water reservoirs, is a plus. The annual salary is $65,000-$80,000 depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, and an excellent benefits package including city pick-up of 8.5% of PERS employee share.

CITY OF FAIRFIELD

PUBLIC UTILITIES DIRECTORS

The City of Fairfield, Ohio seeks a Public Utilities Director to oversee its Public Utilities Department, comprised of a Water Division and a Wastewater Division.  The Water Division is responsible for an OEPA Class III Water Plant producing an average of 5 mgd from wells, 172 miles of water mains, three pumping stations, and 7 million gallons of storage capacity.  The Wastewater Division is responsible for an OEPA Class IV Treatment Plant with a treatment capacity of 10 mgd, 166 miles of sanitary sewers, a 25 mgd wet weather pumping station, and numerous lift stations.

Fairfield is a full-service, progressive city, located just north of Cincinnati.  It has a vibrant economic base, exceptional quality of life and encompasses 20 square miles, with a population approaching 45,000.

The Public Utilities Director reports directly to the City Manager and is responsible for a total annual budget of $9.7 million which includes 41 full-time employees. The five-year capital improvement plan is $10 million.    Fairfield enjoys the lowest combined water/sewer rates in southwest Ohio. 

Position requires education appropriate to the level of responsibility of this position. Advanced education with an emphasis on administration preferred.  Relevant experience in an organization of comparable size and complexity may be substituted as appropriate.   A demonstrated history of leadership, communication, organizational, analytical and managerial skills is essential.  Position offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package.

The City of Springfield announces an UNCLASSIFIED vacancy for the position of ASSISTANT PLANT SUPERINTENDENT at the Water Treatment Plant.

 PAY RANGE:   $46,654 - $59,654, plus excellent benefits

                 This is professional, administrative and supervisory work assisting the Plant Superintendent in directing the operations and maintenance of a municipal water treatment plant.  Work involves planning, directing, and evaluating plant maintenance, laboratory and operations, including direct supervision of all laboratory, electrical and maintenance, and shift personnel.  Work is performed with considerable technical and supervisory independence in accordance with plant operational and maintenance requirements and federal and state regulations.  The Assistant Plant Superintendent will be in responsible charge of the treatment facility in the absence of the Plant Superintendent.

                 This position is responsible for reviewing daily reports, and giving authority to take equipment out of service and changing methods of operations; reviewing and approving maintenance requests; preparing and administering operating and capital budgets and work plans; and developing and implementing operating procedures.  Incumbent will prepare and maintain records and reports on operational, mechanical, and laboratory activities including required reports for federal and state agencies.  Incumbent will develop data for preparation of specifications for bidding; interview and recommend personnel for hire, discipline personnel and perform other personnel work as required, including the handling of grievances.

                This position requires graduation from high school, or equivalent supplemented by college-level coursework in the physical sciences, and considerable supervisory experience in all phases of a water treatment plant, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:  knowledge of federal and state requirements and standards applicable to the operation and treatment process; principles, practices, and methods related to the operation of, and maintenance and repair requirements of mechanical and electrical control equipment used in a water treatment plant; principles of supervision, budget preparation and administration.  Requires the ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, monitor, and implement programs, projects, and personnel.  Position also requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, governmental officials, and the general public.  A valid Ohio Driver’s License is required, as well as possession of a Class I Ohio EPA Operators Certification in Water Supply, with the additional requirement of obtaining a Class III Ohio EPA Water Supply certificate within three (3) years of appointment.

Position:         Assistant Sanitary Engineer for Warren County Water and Sewer

                        Department in Lebanon, Ohio

Job Responsibilities: The Warren County Water and Sewer Department seeks an Assistant Sanitary Engineer to support the Deputy Sanitary Engineer in the role of construction project administrator.  Under general direction, this engineer will assist in all phases of water and sewer projects from planning, design and construction to operations. Primary responsibilities include: construction oversight; review of construction and material submittals; pay estimate review and processing; management of all aspects of construction including site visits, inspection and coordination with engineers, contractors and operations personnel.  Other duties will include interfacing with the Board of County Commissioners; attending public hearings; meeting with the EPA; public speaking; capital improvements planning and annual budget preparation
